Rabindra Nritya mesmerises audience at Red Fort

Lovers of Rabindrasangeet were in for a treat as songs of Rabindranath Tagore reverberated at the sprawling grounds of Red Fort on Thursday as a Delhi-based Bengali cultural troupe presented a dance performance in the ‘Bharat Parv’ event, which is being organised by the government of India as a part of the Republic Day celebrations.

Students of Shinjan Dance Academy, Delhi, led by noted danseuse Smita Chakraborty, presented Rabindra Nritya as part of the cultural programme segment of the event. The programme was supported by the Office of the Resident Commissioner, government of West Bengal.

The Union Ministry of Tourism is the Nodal Ministry for the ‘Bharat Parv’, the highlights of which include a display of Republic Day Parade tableaux, performances by the Armed Forces Bands, food festival, crafts mela and cultural performances from different regions of the country.

The first prize-winning West Bengal tableau is being displayed at the Red Fort grounds as part of the event along with other Republic Day Parade tableaux. Food and handicrafts of Bengal are also attracting visitors at the ‘Bharat Parv’.
