Punjab to conduct 6th Economic Census in December

The Punjab Government has decided to conduct 6th Economic Census-2012 in the state from December, 2012 to January, 2013. State Level Steering Committee has been constituted and other arrangements for the census have also been completed. It has been disclosed by Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Finance Minister, Punjab. He said that the Economic Census is being conducted all over the country and in Punjab; Planning Department would spearhead this exercise in the state. Dhindsa said that the monitoring of census would be done by State Level Steering Committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Punjab. He further said that Economic Advisor, Punjab, who is also holding the charge of Additional Commissioner Census, has been deputed as Nodal Officer for the census. Finance Minister said that for the smooth conduction of Economic Census, District Level Monitoring Committees have also been constituted.
