Prohibitory orders imposed along J&K highway

"District Development Commissioner Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari today imposed restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC for restricting any sort of public interference and gathering on National Highway from Patnitop to Jawahar Tunnel for any kind of protest," an official spokesman said. The restriction has been imposed in view of the ensuing Shree Amaranth Ji Yatra-2015, he added.
"It was informed that the restrictions shall not apply to Shab-e-Qadr or Friday prayers and Eid congregations", he said. The order shall remain effective from July 2 till the Yatra concludes this year.
Meanwhile, the state police <g data-gr-id="24">has</g> made elaborate security arrangements to ensure a safe pilgrimage to people coming from across the country. "Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe Amarnath yatra to pilgrims," DIG Jammu-Kathua range <g data-gr-id="27">Ashkoor</g> Wani said.
A total of 16 companies of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been deployed for providing security to pilgrims, who will be undertaking the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath situated in South Kashmir Himalayas, he said.
The police have also activated a control room at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp, which will provide round-the-clock security to the pilgrims.
"Proper security arrangements have been put in place from Lakhanpur to Jammu to ensure a hassle-free yatra. Security would be provided at langars and to pilgrim vehicles," Wani said.
Rajnath to visit Amarnath on July 2
Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit J&K for two days, beginning July 1, during which he will offer prayers at the Amarnath shrine. Singh will take part in a security review meeting in Srinagar on July 1, along with CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, top civil, police, paramilitary and army officers. On July 2, the Home Minister will visit the Amarnath shrine.
