The national Capital is all set to attract and entertain crowds as it gears up for two major events during the month of August. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be inaugurating the 2nd edition of the India International Footwear Fair (IIFF) - the premier specialised B2B event of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Confederation of Indian Footwear Industries (CIFI) on August 5, 2016 at Pragati Maidan, in the national Capital.
The IIFF (August 5-7) is being organised with support of apex bodies including the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Indian Shoe Federation (ISF), Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) and Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA) and Indian Finished Leather manufacturers’ Association (IFLMEA). This year, as many as 263 leading companies from India and abroad will be participating in the fair. These include over 160 Indian companies and 103 overseas from Brazil, China, Iran and Taiwan.
The IIFF will be showcasing a wide range of products including footwear, raw materials, finished leather- shoe components, synthetic materials, footwear machinery among others. Apart from unveiling the export potential of India in footwear and leather industry, the event aims to project India as an ideal investment destination.
Shortly thereafter, the Union Minister for Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences, Harsh Vardhan will be inaugurating the 22nd edition of Delhi Book Fair on August 27 at Pragati Maidan. The fair is being organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP). The Book Fair will cover a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, academic books besides, children’s literature, classics and other categories of publications including digital innovations.
To make the fair more interactive for visitors, ITPO has planned to introduce book reading sessions, band performances, on- the- spot painting competitions, screening of films, G.K. quizzes, Nukkad Natak and storytelling sessions.
This year, the fair aims at highlighting initiatives of the Government under ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan’ for higher education and computer literacy.
Besides this, the Theme Pavilion will comprise of the ‘Selfie Stations’ which focuses on the national campaigns of the Government of India. These include, ‘Make in India’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Digital India’, ‘Skill India’, ‘Standup India’, ‘Smart Cities’, ‘Startup India and ‘Umang (Unified Mobile App for New-age Governance).
ITPO’s other concurrent events, the 18th edition of Stationery and 2nd Office Automation and Corporate Gift Fair 2016 will be the added attractions for the visitors.
