Tihar jail officials failed to monitor the activities of its prisoners yet again, as a 30-year-old female inmate of the prison, who was facing kidnapping charges, allegedly committed suicide in the jail on Thursday afternoon. Her suicide comes three days after Ram Singh, prime accused in the 16 December gang rape case was found hanging in his cell, on 11 December.
'Reshma was found hanging in her cell with her dupatta, in jail number 6 this afternoon at around 1:30 pm and was immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital, where she was declared brought dead,' said the jail officials.
Reshma was arrested in 2011 in a kidnapping case and had been lodged at the Tihar since then. According to jail officials, she was in a stable condition and never showed any signs of distress. This is the fourth suicide in Tihar in the past 15 months.
DEFENCE QUIZZES FORENSIC EXPERTS
Two forensic experts, who had provided scientific support and services in the probe into the 16 December gang rape-cum-murder case, were cross-examined by the defence counsel for four adult accused before a Delhi court.
