Prime witness in Aarushi case breathes his last

One of the prime witnesses and first investigating officer in Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case in Noida died after being mowed down by a Mother Dairy truck in Masuri area of Ghaziabad on last Thursday night.
Jagveer Singh Malik, 35, a sub-inspector with Uttar Pradesh police, was the given the charge of Sector 20 police station in Noida when the then Station House Officer [SHO] was shunted out after the body of domestic help Hemraj was recovered on 17 May, a day after Aarushi was found dead in her room.
Malik was yet to depose in the special CBI court in Ghaziabad. Malik was also the first official investigating officer [IO] of the case, and was one of the trusted police officers of Noida police to be given charge of the mysterious murder case.
Aarushi and Hemraj were reportedly murdered on the intervening night of 15-16 May and at L-32 in Sector 21, Jalvayu Vihar, which falls in the jurisdiction of Sector 20 police station. Malik was the IO of the case till CBI took it from Noida police.
At the time of the accident, Malik was posted as sub-inspector with District Crime Records Bureau [DCRB] of Ghaziabad police. In the accident, three police personnel died and around half-a-dozen were injured when an over speeding Mother Dairy truck rammed into a dhaba in the Masuri area on Thursday.
According to sources, at the time of the incident, the driver Vivek Yadav was sleeping while conductor Pradeep, 17, was driving the truck. He didn’t have a driving license.
