Prices of onions and potatoes continue to rise

Despite various claims by the city government, prices of onions and potatoes have been hiked to two folds. In the last couple of days, prices of onions have shot up from Rs 20 per kg to Rs 30-35 per kg and the rates of potatoes and tomatoes have sky-rocketed to Rs 80 per kg while the most common north Indian vegetable has gone up to Rs 15 to Rs 30 per kg.
L-G Najeeb Jung claimed that since last six months, the city-wide raids are continuing against the holders to curb prices. He further said prices of onions, tomatoes and potatoes are now stable. ‘Delhi Food and Consumers department constituted 30 teams comprising of young IAS and DANICS officers and SDMs,’ said Raj Niwas sources.
