people on board a passenger jet Flydubai Flight FZ981 flying from Dubai to southern Russia were killed when their plane crashed on its second attempt to land at Rostov-on-Don airport.
Russia’s emergencies ministry said the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 operated by Dubai-based budget carrier Flydubai, crashed at 03:50 (0030 GMT) at the airport. Officials said there were 55 passengers and seven crew on board the plane.
Two Indians are among those killed on FZ981. Following the tragic crash the Airlines released a statement offering their thoughts and prayers with the passengers and crew who were killed on board the aircraft.
The Investigative Committee of Russia said on Saturday (March 19) that it is looking into a pilot error or a technical failure as the most likely causes for the crash.
“At present, we are looking into two main theories for the plane crash in Rostov-on-Don: pilot error in connection with deteriorating weather conditions or a technical error,” Interfax news agency cited a representative of the Committee, Oksana Kovrizhnaya, as saying.
All 62 people aboard the passenger jet flying from Dubai to southern Russia were killed when the Flydubai plane crashed on its second attempt to land at Rostov-on-Don airport. Flydubai confirmed on its Facebook page that flight FZ981 was carrying 55 passengers, including 44 Russians, eight Ukrainians, two Indians and one Uzbekistani.
