A woman, five months pregnant, was allegedly murdered by her husband in south-east Delhi’s Okhla area. Family of the deceased alleged that the in-laws, including her husband had killed her after a heated argument over her pregnancy.
The incident took place on Thursday evening when the woman (name was not disclosed) was admitted to Safdarjung hospital. Her in-laws made a call to her parents informing them about the death of their daughter at the hospital. They told her parents that she was ill since the past few days, after which she was taken to the hospital Thursday morning, where she died. The couple tied the knot four years ago.
Speaking to Millennium Post, family of the deceased claimed that their daughter, who was a house wife wanted to have a child soon after her marriage to a property dealer. Every time she became pregnant, her in-laws used to opt for a sex determination test, and on that basis made her abort the pregnancy. Recently when she became pregnant, she refused to go for a medical test due to which every day she faced heated arguments at her in-laws residence in Tehsan area.
‘On Thursday, after having a heated argument with her husband she wished to leave the house. She started packing her luggage to move to her paternal family residing in east Delhi’s Karawal Nagar area. Her decision annoyed the family and the argument turned violent, which lead to her murder’, a source said.
Raman, brother of the deceased said, ‘We made a call to the police control room at 5 pm from the hospital and made a complaint against her husband and in-laws.’
The investigating officer said, ‘It will be too early to conclude whether the case is of murder or a case of natural death due to some disease. Investigation is under process and on the basis of the complaint the body has been sent for the post-mortem examination. We are expecting to receive the autopsy reports on late Friday evening.’
