Pre-Diwali shocker: Delhi school principal’s daughter hangs herself

Anjana Saini is reported to have been suffering from severe clinical depression and police have ruled out foul play.
The deceased was working at a financial company located in Gurgaon. On late Tuesday evening, at about 9 pm, her parents discovered her hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom. She was immediately pulled down and was rushed to Fortis hospital in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj where she was declared dead on arrival.
‘It was hospital authorities who informed police about Anjana’s death. Her parents have not made any call to the police,’ Prem Nath, deputy commissioner of police (south) said.
Two teams of police were rushed to the hospital and at the crime scene where she committed suicide. The cops found a suicide note lying on the side table of her bed alleging that she is taking the drastic step due to particular reason and that no one should be held accountable for the suicide.
‘We are examining the hand-writing of the letter,’ the official added. Sources in police department however said that the woman was depressed for a while because of the fact that she wasn’t getting any good proposals for marriage. ‘There was some defect in her horoscope and for the same two-three proposals got rejected in the recent past. Since then she was depressed,’ the source added.
Post-mortem examination of the body was conducted at AIIMS on Wednesday morning and the reports are awaited. The body has been handed-over to the family after the post-mortem, the official said.
In the preliminary investigation the circumstantial evidences does not point towards any foul play. ‘ The chances of a foul play are bleak on accounts of the fact that no injuries were found on the body but the case is being investigated from all plausible angles,’ Nath added.
A case under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code has been registered at RK Puram police station.
