Prasar Bharati gets Rathore pat

 MoS for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Thursday said the public service motto of Prasar Bharati has stood out within the institutional framework of information dissemination. 

“The public service mandate has enabled Prasar Bharati live up to the role and challenges of fair and balanced reporting,” said Rathore, while inaugurating a symposium on ‘Naye Bharat Ki Rachna Aur <g data-gr-id="26">Prasaaran</g> <g data-gr-id="27">Maadhyam</g>’ on the occasion of Indian Broadcasting Day. The event was organised by Prasar Bharati.

“The government is <g data-gr-id="29">committed towards</g> strengthening Prasar Bharati. In the changing media scenario and rapid technological development, Prasar Bharati has the responsibility of taking news and information to the remotest corners of the country. The government is committed to the expansion of FM Radio through the Phase-III auctions and provide the better quality transmission,’ the Minister said.

He added: “The government is also making efforts to replace shortwave and Medium wave with FM broadcasts throughout the country.”

 Regarding Community Radio, Rathore said: “Steps are being taken to encourage and strengthen the community radio movement as it empowers local communities by encouraging local languages and talent, and thereby, information dissemination.”

Underlining the uniqueness of the medium, Rathore said: “it helps us stay connected with the world without getting distracted. Radio has been producing news that is <g data-gr-id="21">neural</g>, balanced and fair.”
Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar said Akashvani has played a vital role in cementing unity.
