Praful Patel asked to intervene in rendering terminal dues to Allen

In a letter to heavy industries minister Praful Patel, Congress general secretary Ajay Maken has asked Patel to intervene in rendering terminal dues to Linda Allen, the woman who had headed the investigation of sexual harassment charges  against acting chairman of Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd MK Singh. Despite facing charges of sexual harassment, Singh has been given a six-month extension by the organisation.

Makan, also in-charge of Communication Department of the party asked Patel to release ‘terminal dues to Linda Allen of Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd. which have been stopped on flimsy grounds. ‘Allen has rendered 42 years of service to the organisation and retired last year in August but the ‘terminal benefits have not been released to her,’ said Maken in the letter.

MK Singh, currently the acting chairman of Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd, was accused of sexual harassment by one of the female employees of the company. Later, even the internal complaint committee for prevention of sexual harassment of women at workplace of the company found him guilty, but no action was taken against him. Singh also managed to stop terminal dues of another woman employee, Linda Allen, the chairperson of the inquiry committee. The complaint had been filed by a female employee alleging ‘indecent behaviour of MK Singh’.

Linda Allen has served for 33 years in Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd. Allen alleged that since 2011, when Singh joined the company, she faced ‘tremendous strain and mental stress’.
