Prabhat Kumar takes charge as chief executive officer of Meja Thermal Power

Prabhat Kumar has joined as the chief executive officer of Meja Urja Nigam (MUNPL), a joint venture of NTPC Ltd & UPRVUNL on Saturday. 

He is a graduate in Mechnical engineering from IIT, BHU. After completing his B Tech, he joined NTPC in 1977 as ET in NTPC Ltd. Kumar has vast experience in the field of power sector including the global exposure by attending conferences at United States of America on power plant performances. 

During his service of more than 38 years in the NTPC, he served in many plants and projects including Anta, Jhanor, Kawas, Dadri Gas, and also rendered his services at Jhajjar and Barethi as Head of Project and gets international exposer in the project of  Sri Lanka with JV NTPC etc. His last assignment was with NTPC Barethi as Head of Project/ General Manager  where he was responsible for developing and leading the power project of NTPC. 

He also has wide experience in the field of hydro and solar energy and it was the result of his vision. 

A man with positive and flexible attitude, Kumar has been the prime mover behind the success of several mega-size power projects, which include a significant process optimisation experience in implementing new systems, workflow tools, and business processes.
