The 'Power Pavilion' of the Union Ministry of Power has been awarded the silver trophy for excellence in display at the 32nd India International Trade Fair. The pavilion, with the theme 'Powering the Nation’s Development', bagged the honour by showcasing the achievements of the ministry as well as the public sector undertakings (PSUs) under its umbrella.
The trophy was handed over by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Dr D Purandeswari to Deputy Power Secretary C J Jose at the closing ceremony. All the constituents of the Power Pavilion — NTPC, NHPC, PGCIL, REC, THDC, NPTI, CPRI, DVC, SJVN, NEEPCO, BBMB and BEE — too were given silver medal certificates for their individual displays.
This year NTPC was made the nodal agency for coordination of activities at IITF-2012, including designing and development of the Power Pavilion. All the participating power PSUs showcased their training & management institutes to impart technical and managerial skills in developing future power leaders.
