Power cuts loom large in national capital today

Delhiites will have to face long power cuts, scheduled for 3 and 4 March. Power distribution companies on Sunday informed that they have scheduled maintenance work for their transformers, lines and other electrical installations. Despite imposition of president’s rule in Delhi, serious power cuts have been going on in the same localities in the past two weeks under the rationale of maintenance work.
Various RWA’s have claimed that power discoms are indulging in power cuts under the garb of maintenance work, with no real work being done. Reliance-led BSES (Yamuna and Rajdhani) areas will be more affected by this shortage in supply, in comparison to those areas that receive electricity from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL).
In 162 areas that receive electricity from both BSES discoms, power shall be unavailable for approximately seven hours. Meanwhile, in 45 areas that receive electricity from TPDDL, power cuts up to a maximum of seven hours are expected.
According Delhi Transco Limited, BSES Yamuna Power Limited will cut power between 10 am to 5 pm on 3rd March. Localities facing power cuts will include Chandni Chowk, Darya Ganj, Dilshad Garden, Karawal Nagar, Karkardooma, Krishna Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Mayur Vihar phase-1 & 2, Nandnagri, Pahar Ganj, Patel Nagar, Shankar Road and Yamuna Vihar.
Load shedding on the BSES Rajdhani Power Limited-run lines for 3rd March will run between five to seven hours. Areas affected include Hauz Khas, Khanpur, RK Puram, Alakananda, Jaffarpur, Janakpuri, Najaf Garh, Nangloi, Palam, Punjabi Bagh, Saket and Sarita Vihar.
In TPDD-run areas residents will have to face major power cuts of four to seven hours on 3rd March, in areas such as Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Mangolpuri, Narela, Bawana, Pitampura, Badli, Civil Lines, Sshakti Nagar and Model Town.
On 4 March, areas where electricity is supplied by BSES discoms , power cuts for up to a minimum of seven hours is expected. In areas where electricity is supplied by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited cuts on 4 March are expected to last between 10 am to 5 pm in the areas mentioned above. Areas covered by TPDD on 4 March will have to face power cuts lasting between four to seven hours in the same areas.
