Poppy husk worth over Rs one crore seized, 5 held

Punjab police made a big haul of narcotics with the recovery of over four tonnes of poppy husk worth Rs 1.20 crore and arrested five persons in Jandey Saraipur area. On a tip-off, police last night seized a truck loaded with 115 bags containing 4,025 Kg of poppy husk, senior superintendent of police Yurinder Singh Hayer said. On questioning, the five, all from Punjab, revealed that the consignment was brought from Rajasthan and had to be delivered in Doaba area.
