A Delhi court on Saturday deferred to 13 January its order on framing of charges against sacked Uttarakhand minorities panel chief SS Namdhari and 21 others, arrested in connection with the killing of liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep in a 2012 shootout.
Deferring the order to 13 January, additional sessions judge Vimal Kumar Yadav said more time was needed to analyse some material evidence in the case. ‘Come for order on 13 January, 2014,’ the court said.
Earlier, on 14 December the defence cousel for Namdhari, KK Manan, had made a surprising comment alleging that a Delhi police officer was aware of the conspiracy to kill Ponty. ‘A senior police officer was in touch with Ponty’s brother Hardeep Singh,’ Manan had claimed.
Ponty and Hardeep, who allegedly had a property dispute, were killed in a shootout at a Chhattarpur farmhouse here on 17 November in 2012.
