Polls on mind: Union ministers call upon L-G to speed up projects

As Delhi is headed for fresh polls, senior BJP leaders have been constantly visiting Raj Niwas to meet L-G and ask him to ‘speed up’ the ongoing development projects in Delhi.

Union Minister and Chandni Chowk MP Harsh Vardhan met Jung on Friday and discussed progress of redevelopment of Chandni Chowk and Jama Masjid and fixed deadlines for completion of same. Chandni Chowk constituency is a Muslim-dominated area and the development work in these areas would reflect in assembly polls.

On Thursday, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu discussed wide range of issues with Jung. The issues included water supply to the Capital through Munak canal in Haryana and construction of night shelters. Besides, Naidu also discussed regularisation of unauthorised colonies, allocation of houses built under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission with the L-G.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had also met the Lieutenant Governor and discussed various issues related to the plying of e-rickshaws in the Capital. Fearing that e-rickshaw drivers would move to AAP, Gadkari wants to resolve the issues and bring notification ahead of polls.
Apart from union ministers and other senior BJP leaders, the legislators of the party are also calling upon L-G. The Election Commission is expected to announce dates for assembly polls soon.
