Poll vigil: Committee set to monitor DU elections

In order to keep a close eye on the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, the poll committee has formed a team of eight members.
Chief election officer for DUSU elections Ashok Vohra said, ‘We have set up a team of eight members which will work in a unified manner in different zones of the Delhi University.’

‘During the elections, we will divide and spread the members in all important areas of the campus. The team will not only monitor the campaign but if required will also video record the poll process to ensure high transparency and security during the elections,’ Vohra said. ‘If anyone is found violating norms, his/her nomination will be canceled,’ he informed. No candidate will be permitted to make use of printed posters, printed pamphlets, or any other printed material for the purpose of canvassing.

‘Candidates may only use hand-made posters for the purpose of canvassing, provided such hand-made posters are procured within the expenditure limit set out at Rs 5,000 per candidate,’ he said.  The deadline for filing nominations for DUSU election is 4 September.
