Policeman booked for custodial death

The chief of police station in Bhondsi village of Gurgaon was on Wednesday booked for murdering a retired police official in the lockup, a police official said. Two civilians were also booked along with the police chief. ‘The case against Bhondsi police station chief Arvind Kumar Dahiya, Bhagirath and Jitender has been registered under section 302 and other sections of the IPC,’ said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East-South) Maheshwar Dayal.
The action came after angry relatives of the deceased blocked the Gurgaon-Alwar state highway for several hours Wednesday. They demanded the arrest of those responsible for the death. The deceased, Virpal Singh, was a retired ASI from Rajasthan Police and a resident of Bhondsi village.
