The Delhi police are likely to get a Covert Tracking Device, Command Control System and handy map soon. These equipment will provide a variety of vehicle location tracking features with the help of which the police can ascertain the exact location of a vehicle.Â
In case of a theft, the police can easily trace the stolen vehicle’s location by simply following the GPS path.Â
The Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) will display the real-time location of various tracking devices and thus the location of the targeted vehicle on a coloured digital map. The system will be able to store the location of the vehicle for over a given period of time and provide the details of its movement pattern. Moreover, the system will allow the monitoring of the target vehicle in complete secrecy.Â
The information so collected will be stored and can be retrieved for future monitoring and evaluation.
Using the cellular technology, operators will be able to command and control the devices from any location. The technology will track targets with remote monitoring and location-tracking data. The system will be accessible from any part of the country through 2G+3G network.
The Vehicle Tracking Device (VTD), which will be small in size, will have an all weather-proof internal battery compartment. It will have at least a seven-day battery backup for 24x7 use.
The VTD will have two tracking-interval configurations – one when the vehicle is moving and one when it is static. The device will be able to detect either events and engage in an automatic swap between the two tracking interval configurations.
