Police tighten security for Shab-e-Barat

In light of the accidents caused due to triple riding by bikers, police especially in the Central district, have issued more than 12,000 posters highlighting the importance of the occasion to motivate youngsters not to indulge in breaking traffic norms.

According to senior police officers in Central district which witnesses maximum number of people visiting dargahs and graveyards at night, around 100 pickets have been installed at crucial points. Each picket will be manned by five to seven police constables. Moreover, all the senior officers including Joint Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police and others will be out patrolling and keeping an eye on the law and order situation.

Meanwhile, in South District, 138 pickets have been installed and at least ten policemen will be manning the picket to keep a tab on the law and order situation, said senior officers of the South District.

On the other hand, the high-security zone of Lutyen’s Delhi which falls under the New Delhi district has also made elaborate arrangements especially near the C-hexagon area close to India Gate. 

A senior police officer said, “At least 88 pickets will be used and each picket will have maximum policemen depending on the stretch. All the crucial religious places have been provided with more police forces.”
