A servant has been arrested for kidnapping his former employers’ son for ransom in north Delhi’s Timarpur area. Police have also rescued the child .
The accused Ashraf, 24, was earlier employed by one Izhar, as worker in a small factory of tailoring in Wazirabad in Timarpur area. He used to stay in the factory and was on familiar terms with Izhar’s family members as well.
A few days ago, Ashraf left the factory and started living nearby in a rented accommodation. On Friday, he came to Izhar’s house and lured his six-year-old son Chand, who was playing outside. He then took him to Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Khiri district and from there, he made a ransom call to Izhar and demanded Rs 50 lakh.
Later, Ashraf brought down the amount to Rs 30 lakh. Meanwhile, Izhar informed the police and lodged an FIR. Police put the caller’s phone on surveillance, went to Lakhimpur Khiri and rescued the boy from a house. Ashraf was also arrested later, said a senior police officer.
During interrogation, Ashraf told police that he was fired by his employer on some trivial issue. In a fit of rage, he hatched a plan to kidnap his son.
