Police issue notice to traffic violators

Delhi Traffic Police have suspended more than 4,000 driving licenses in order to have a deterrent effect on repeat traffic offenders. However, a large number of traffic violators have yet not deposited their driving licenses, prompting the authorities to issue warning to them.

The suspended driving licenses are to be deposited before Motor Licensing Officer (MLO) of Transport Department, GNCT of Delhi. The Delhi Traffic Police issued a statement warning the violators, and asked them to submit their licenses soon. It said that failure to do so will be an offence of criminal breach of trust. A case under Section 406 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) can be registered against the violator.
