Police deploy ‘spies’ at city borders to gather evidence against ‘corrupt’ cops

Lately, Delhi Police have been receiving complaints in which commercial vehicles with ‘particular stickers’ at the top of their windscreens, are allowed to enter into the city without routine check.
‘The transporters have made this arrangement with the cop, who let their vehicles pass for a monthly fee (bribe). Most of these vehicles are generally overloaded, or doesn’t have necessary document’, said a police officer. He further added, the most common sticker is like a black ribbon with ‘Radhe Shyam’ written on it in a particular font.
The cops, along with the transporters make sure that these ‘stickers’ are available only to those who agree to become part of their system.
‘Thise sticker arrangement has been going on from a long time and the traffic unit had been receiving complaints about it. Only when the number of complaints went too high, the matter was directed to the vigilance department,’ said Sindhu Pillai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vigilance).
