A Delhi Police constable was killed in a road accident after being hit by an unknown vehicle early Sunday morning while he was on his duty on the VVIP route made for the movement of Japan’s Prime Minister in South Delhi. The incident took place at around 7.15 am when Constable Virender, posted at Palam Village police station, was patrolling on his official motorbike on the route of Dhaula Kuan to Gurgaon.
Due to dense fog, an unknown vehicle suddenly came from behind and collided with Virender’s bike making him lose control. After the collision, he fell on the ground and the vehicle crushed him to death.
The driver of the unknown vehicle managed to flee from the spot. A passer-by noticed Virender lying in a pool of blood and made a PCR call. The PCR team along with local staff, who were already patrolling in the area, rushed to the spot and took him to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Later, in the investigation he was identified as constable Virender. A hit-and-run case has been registered at Delhi Cantt police station and investigation is underway to identify the vehicle.
