Police arrest mother, two sons, for murder of father’s lover

Delhi police have arrested a woman and apprehended her two sons, including a juvenile, for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 30-year-old woman in Jafrabad area of north-east Delhi.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Meera, her 23-year-old son, Amit and another juvenile son. They were arrested by the police from Gautam Vihar area in Jafrabad on Sunday.

An extramarital affair between the deceased and the accused Meera’s husband led the accused to plot and execute the murder, said a police official.

‘The deceased was reportedly involved in an extramarital affair with the husband of the accused, which led to the murder. The woman was first strangulated using a dupatta during the day time and she was later dumped into the car. They burnt the body and attempted to dispose it’ said the police.

Police said that in the wee hours of 10 December, the murder came to light when people spotted a burning Santro car in Arvind Nagar area of Jafrabad. After the police reached the spot, they found the charred body of a woman at the rear end of the car.

Immediately, she was rushed to the nearby Guru Teg Bahadur hospital in north-east Delhi, where doctors declared her dead. She had suffered 90 per cent burns.

Police had then ruled out suicide and suspected that she was killed elsewhere and then dumped into the car and burnt. The suspicion was confirmed after investigations and subsequent arrests.
