The Prime Minister’s Office is enquiring into a complaint against appointment of Mahendra Kumar Singh, CMD Bridge and Roof Co Ltd, under ministry of heavy industries and public enterprises. The complaint has been filed by Qamruzzaman Qamar, national secretary Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), West Bengal branch.
In a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi, Qamar has questioned the role of Rajesh Kumar Singh, joint secretary Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) , in the appointment. It was Rajesh Singh who had forwarded a proposal of extending the acting charge of CMD beyond 10 April to MK Singh.
Rajesh did this reportedly in connivance with Satanu Behuria, former secretary DHI said the letter.
Even Kallol Dutta has been appointed the new CMD to Bridge and Roof, MK Singh has been interfering in legal matters of the company mentioned the letter adding that MK Singh is avoiding a summon issued by the 18th court of chief metropolitan magistrate, Kolkata since 31 August 2013 in a sexual harassment case. His appeal against the summon has been rejected by the Calcutta High Court. Also MK Singh’s appeal in Supreme Court has been dismissed.
