Ahead of the crucial 4 December assembly polls, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has canceled an election rally he was to address on 30 November, in the Sikh and Punjabi-dominated Tilak Nagar. The rationale behind the cancelation was due to the PM’s tight schedule.
Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit said that Prime Minister would be busy with a foreign delegation on 30 November. However, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address four more rallies in national capital. ‘Three rallies will take place 30 November and 1 December,’ said BJP national secretary.
‘We just cannot compare Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Narendra Modi. The reason behind the cancellation is purely official as the PM is busy with some foreign delegates,’ said a senior Congress leader.
When asked about effects of cancellation of PM’s rally on Delhi’s voters, the leaders said, ‘The chief minister herself is a star campaigner and she will plug all the loopholes if required.’
