PM Modi to lay foundation of J'khand agri institute on June 28

“The process of setting up NARI is in the final stage. About 1,000 <g data-gr-id="23">acre</g> of land has been acquired for this institute. The work would start soon after PM Modi would lay the foundation on Sunday (June 28),” Singh told Millennium Post.
On the lines of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Pusa, the Agriculture Ministry has stepped up effort to open National Agriculture Research Institutes (NARI) --- one in Jharkhand and the other in Assam. The motive behind opening such institutes is to promote research, innovation and development work in the field of agriculture, which is considered as <g data-gr-id="32">backbone</g> of Indian economy, an official said.
The NARI would come up in Barhi (Hazaribagh), which is some 139 km away from Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand. The other NARI would <g data-gr-id="29">be come</g> in Assam, for which the consultation is in process.
The ministry has allocated a fund of Rs 100 crore for developing the institute. It has been learnt that the admission process for NARI has also started. Scores of students have enrolled in the first batch.
They will get research facility in Ranchi till the completion of the institute.
Notably, the Agriculture Minister, along with ICAR DG Dr S Ayyappan, on Monday reviewed the preparation for foundation laying stone of the institute.
