PM Modi likely to address four election rallies in Delhi after January 27

Ahead of upcoming Delhi polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address four election rallies
in the national capital after US President Barack Obama’s three-day visit to India.

BJP sources on Friday said that the Prime Minister will address rallies in four districts - north, east, west and south - of the city after January 27.

“Modiji will address four election rallies in the city after January 27 and these rallies will be held in north, west, east and south districts.

“The dates for the rallies are yet to be finalised by the central leadership,” a senior BJP leader said.
The BJP has asked all seven party MPs from the national capital to ensure huge gathering of voters at each rally of the Prime Minister to make them a success.

“BJP leader Parvesh Verma, who is an MP from West Delhi, has been asked to look after the preparations of Modi’s rallies to be held in his constituency. Besides, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri will oversee the preparations of PM’s rally in south district. BJP MPs have clearly been asked to ensure good attendance of voters at the venues,” he said.

According to BJP leaders, Union Cabinet Ministers like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nirmala Sitharaman, Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, M Venkaiah Naidu and Rajiv Pratap Rudy will also campaign for the BJP in the national capital.

BJP is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to return to power after a gap of 16 years in the national capital.

Modi had addressed a public rally on January 10 at the Ramlila Ground here in which chief ministers of Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra — three states where BJP recently formed its government — too, had appealed for support for the party.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi will hold 70 rallies covering all the constituencies in the national capital in the next 14 days ahead of the Assembly polls here. A 21-member election committee of the party on Friday met to discuss the party’s campaign strategy for the February 7 polls. The meeting was chaired by senior BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman.

“Bedi will hold as many as 70 rallies in all the 70 constituencies. She has been asked to hold around four to five rallies every day so that every constituency is covered,” said a senior BJP leader. He also said that the party is banking heavily on the former IPS officer to raise support among the people given her “clean” image. “It was also decided that all candidates will tell people about the work done by the central government (led by BJP).”

“Besides, party leaders will also apprise the voters of the lies of Aam Aadmi Party,” the BJP leader added.

The saffron party has also asked its booth in-charges and Panna Pramukh to go door-to-door seeking support, saying that the campaign should be conducted as a kind of “mission” and not as if it was just for an election. Meanwhile, another senior leader said that the party will release its manifesto for the polls between January 26 and 28.

“The manifesto committee headed by Union Minister Harsh Vardhan is about to complete its work. We may release our election manifesto between January 26 and 28. In it, the party will mainly focus on water and electricity as issues for the upcoming Assembly elections,” he added.
