Ghalib In New Delhi talks about Mirza Ghalib’s re-birth in 21st century Delhi, highlighting his trials, travails and tribulations. This rip-roaring comedy has the great erstwhile Urdu poet, Mirza Ghalib, revisiting his beloved ‘Dehli’, now ‘Delhi’, in 2015 to witness and enjoy his posthumous fame. The Hindi-Urdu comedy written and directed by M Sayeed Alam will be staged at  Lok Kala Manch on June 28.

The play titled Big B will be staged on July 5 at the same venue. Big B is a dramatic version of Premchand's short story Bade Bhai Saheb. It is based on two brothers – the ‘studious’ Kamta Prasad and the ‘sporty’ Samta Prasad. The play revolves around the desi <g data-gr-id="52">gilli</g> danda, hockey, cricket, history, chemistry, and geography. M Sayeed Alam has penned the <g data-gr-id="48">script,</g> while Niti Phool has directed the play.

The next act by the troupe will be KL Saigal. It is the only play based on the life, times, works and worth of the legendary singer, actor and the first superstar of Indian Cinema – KL Saigal. It is a virtual re-creation of good old years of Indian music and cinema. The play is dotted with the live recital of Saigal’s ghazals, <g data-gr-id="46">dadras</g>, <g data-gr-id="47">thumris</g> and film songs. Featuring Tom Alter and Yashraj Malik, the play will be staged on July 11 at Sri Ram Centre.

KL Saigal will be followed by Lal Qile Ka Aakhri Mushaera, which will be staged on July 12 at Lok Kala Manch. Lal Qile Ka Aakhri Mushaera recreates the last mushaera that took place at the historic Lal Qila (Red Fort), before the revolt of 1857. It brings together some of the greatest figures of Urdu poetry on one stage such as — Ghalib, Zauq, Momin, Dagh, Tishnah, Sheftah and Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
