‘Planning to interrogate IM operatives together’

In a sensational move, the Delhi police Special Cell is planning to interrogate all four recently captured Indian Mujahideen operatives together. The plan is to arrange face-to-face interrogation of all the four IM operatives.

Yasin Bhatkal, co-founder of IM, was arrested in August 2013 from Indo-Nepal border along with Assadullah Akhtar. The Special Cell is likely to push for police custody again. ‘We are willing to interrogate all the four operatives-- Yasin, Assadullah, Tehsin and Waqas,’ the source added.

All four of them stayed together for a long time in various parts of the country and executed several terror strikes. ‘Yasin and Assadullah are currently under police remand of Maharashtra ATS for various terror cases. Gujarat police is standing next in the queue, seeking information about the Ahmedabad blasts. Around 35 cases are pending in Gujarat,’ MS Khan, advocate said.

Special cell sources said, ‘Bringing all the arrested IM operatives, including the biggest catch, Yasin and Tehsin, is a difficult task. But we will seek the help of the court and will make the judge understand about the necessity of questioning all of them together.’

‘It will help us in getting more information about absconding operatives and also about the planning and execution of the terror strikes. Even though we have questioned each one of them about the recent blasts in India that were executed by them, a face-to-face interrogation will make those episodes more clear,’ the official added. Teshin Akhtar, Waqas and are in police custody till 2 April.

Sources in Delhi police special cell told Millennium Post, ‘After the arrest of Tehsin Akhtar from Indo-Nepal border and Waqas from Ajmer in Rajasthan, our next target is to nab Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal, the founder of IM.’ To attain more information about the possible hide-outs of Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal, Tehsin and Waqas are being intensively interrogated.
