Pizza delivery boy held for molesting girl

The Delhi Police have arrested a pizza delivery boy for allegedly molesting a five-year-old girl outside her residence in South-east Delhi's Ashram area. The accused was nabbed by victim's family and later handed over to the police.
According to the police, the incident was reported around 11.15 am on Sunday when the accused, identified as Amit, reached the third floor of a building in Ashram’s Hari Nagar area. Before reaching the house, where he was supposed to deliver the pizza, he allegedly molested the girl, who was playing near the staircase of her house.
The victim’s mother has lodged a police complaint against Amit. “The girl started crying, which alerted her mother. When she came out, the girl narrated the incident to her. The victim’s mother, along with some residents of the building, nabbed the delivery boy and thrashed him before handing him over to the police,” a police official said.
A team reached the spot arrested the accused and took him to the Lajpat Nagar police station, said a police official investigating the case.
Amit has been booked under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Police said Amit was a resident of Ambedkar Nagar and worked for a pizza company. “So far, he has
not admitted to the crime,” the official said.
On Sunday morning, the child’s father had placed a pizza order. A complaint has also been made to the pizza company, where the accused was employed. The company has sacked Amit.
“It has been brought to our notice that one of our delivery boys from the Lajpat Nagar restaurant in New Delhi has been accused of conducting himself in an unlawful manner. The matter is under investigation. We are extending our full cooperation to ensure that a thorough probe into the case. There is ‘zero tolerance’ for such unlawful behaviour and we have terminated the employee concerned with immediate effect,” the pizza company said.
