Pick up sleeveless jackets

I have this old boyfriend blazer that I got a couple of years back. But now I am bored with it. How do I revamp it?

Well, boyfriend blazers are almost out of fashion now. On the other hand as winters are here, they can protect you from the harsh cold. What’s hot this season are sleeveless jackets. What you can do is, cut off the sleeves of your old blazer and team it up with anything from maxi dress to jeans and tee combo.

I came across the term hardware embellishments in a couple of fashion magazines.  Can it be a part of our regular life?

Hardware embellishments are having a big fashion moment now. They are spotted on shirt collars, oversized clutches, sari blouses and a on a lot of accessories. You can easily make them a part of your day-to-day life by sticking a strip of gold studs to your Kolhapuris.

My sister had this lovely wrap skirt which is part of my wardrobe since she got married. But I am not very sure if they are still in fashion.

Wrap skirts are a part of leisure dressing. They are super comfortable and also give you a feeling of being fashionably lazy. A couple of international designers have showcased wrap skirts in their present collection for Autumn/Winter 2012. You can chop the hemline and bring it to your knees. Team them with shimmery blouses for a night out or with a denim for a hippie look.

What are the guidelines to be followed while picking up a jacket for someone with wide hips?

You can go for a nipped-in jacket to balance out proportions making sure they cut your hips halfway for a slim look.

I have an official award ceremony to attend. Please suggest something that looks both formal and elegant. I generally don’t wear ethnic and embroidered stuff.

LBD can be your best choice, but you can also  add a dash of colour to this corporate ceremony by going for something colourful dress, may be in mustard or blue. Team it with a clutch that will add some bling. Keep your footwear simple. The look can be completed with a jacket.

I am 5ft tall. But I am in love with long anarkalis that all the designers are making. Are those dresses fit for me as well?

Well, I am afraid they are not. Generally the long anarkalis accentuate the frames of longer ladies. The shorter ones tend to get lost in so much of fabric. And always remember, all the trends are not for everyone. You surely don’t want to turn out as a fashion faux pas.
