Physically challenged to get preference

In a significant decision to help persons with disabilities, Delhi government would be given preference to these persons in allotment of industrial plots, sheds and plots by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation [DSIIDC].

Government has adopted the policy for preferential allotment and concessions to persons with disability as recommended in The Persons with Disabilities [Equal Opportunities, Protection of Right and Full Participation] Act, 1995 for disposal of industrial plots, housing flats, built up sheds of DSIIDC.

The policy has been approved by the government and it comes into force with immediate effect.
Under this policy, the eligible persons shall be entitled for preferential allotments with one per cent reservation in allotment of industrial plots, housing flats, built up sheds and five per cent reservation in allotment of shops and kiosks preferably at ground floor with five per cent rebate in the cost subject to a maximum of Rs one lakh.

Meanwhile, in order to ensure that the concessional provisions meant for the persons with disability do no lead to misuse or speculation, the letter of allotment and lease deed and conveyance deed of such properties would specifically state that transfer of title, possession of the properties prior to 15 years from the delivery of possession to the allottee would result in automatic cancellation of the allotment.

However, in case the allottee dies prior to the expiry of the stated period of 15 years, his/her legal heirs shall be bound by the condition and property shall devolve on the legal heir.
