Once governed by Portugal, tiny Diu island, linked by a bridge to Gujarat’s southern coast, is still infused with Portuguese history, architecture and some remnants of Portuguese culture. The town was historically part of the Saurashtra region of Gujarat and an important port on trade routes of Arabian sea and Indian Ocean. Relatively unexplored attractions and loads of unpretentious charm make this coastal town a happy getaway. It’s an ideal destination to unwind and rejuvenate.
