Gone with the windmills

If windmills are what you want to see, this is the place to be! Zaanse Schans is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Netherlands. Situated on the bank of the Zaan river, it is an open air conservation area, and museum. Functioning windmills, traditional green wooden houses, and craftsman's workshops, make it a very pretty site – a re-creation of a Dutch village from the 18th and 19th centuries.
