Retracing the Silk Route

The Silk Route was an ancient set of trade routes that connected China to the western world. Before the famous naval routes were established, the Silk Route provided for majority of trade on land which fell into disuse with the advent of naval supremacy. One part of this broken route – The Hunder valley – is a white sand desert located between the Himalayan ranges that used to serve as a transit point for the traders of yore. Some remnants of those days are still visible today with rare twin humped Bactrian camels which still roam these sands.
