Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL) has created a world record on receiving its 1000th LNG cargo at its the Dahej terminal. The feat was achieved by the company in nine years and 26 days which is a first for any LNG terminal in the world with a single jetty operation.
To commemorate this achievement, PLL organised a function at Dahej, attended by Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary and Petronet LNG Ltd Chairman Vivek Rae, ONGC CMD Sudhir Vasudeva, Petronet LNG MD & CEO Dr A K Balyan and Rasgas (Qatar) Sales Head Ghanim A Al Shahwani and Bharuch District Collector Avantika Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Balyan said that the achievement of the 1000th cargo is not an easy task for an LNG terminal. Although this milestone has been achieved by some of the busiest terminals in the world, they have taken more than 18 years to do so, he added. Petronet LNG has achieved this milestone in just nine years and 26 days, he said.
Rae lauded the efforts of the Petronet LNG team and its senior management for steering the company towards this achievement. He drew attention to the fact that India is a developing country facing many problems related to energy, food, ecological and defence security.
He emphasised that we need to keep looking for new opportunities, both within and outside the country, through exploration and development of energy assets.
