Pet labrador attacks robber, chases him out of house in RK Puram

A golden labrador averted a robbery bid and saved her owner in South Delhi’s RK Puram area on Wednesday. The accused, however, managed to escape and is yet to be identified.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the accused, posing as a delivery boy, knocked the door of Rashmi Singhal. Initially, the accused asked about the presence of her husband — Pankaj Singhal. When she told him that he is not in the house, the accused informed her that he had to deliver some documents to him.

According to the victim, she opened the door believing that the documents are related to her husband’s business of food products. Soon after she opened the door, the accused punched her on the face and she fell on the ground. At the time of the incident, other family members were not present in the house.

The accused continued thrashing her and in the meantime, Sugar, the pet labrador, came running from the other room and attacked the person. Sugar kept on barking and attacking him. In a bid to save himself, the accused ran away. Even though the accused left the house, Sugar chased him for long and later returned.

Meanwhile, Rashmi informed her husband about the incident who further told police and a team reached the spot. After recording her statement, a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at RK Puram police station.

Last month, a three-and-a-half year-old german shepherd — Jasmine — did not let armed men approach the family it belongs to close enough in Moti Bagh area. The pet dog intervened when the 19-year-old girl was shot at by the burglars who were trying to rob an electronics shop. Jasmine had barked furiously and prevented the miscreants from closing in on them.
