Since early Monday morning, people braving the cold, started pouring in at Kejriwal’s Kaushambi residence in Ghaziabad to witness a new era of revolution, which stunned political pundits, after his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured 28 seats in the Assembly poll.
As a strict party regulation, no party workers were seen dancing, playing loud music and burning crackers. A section of them wearing party caps were seen holding balloons and placards to greet their leader.
AAP’s decision to form the government, days after cat and mouse game, not only witnessed a gargantuan warm reception but also saw a new journey towards a system, which is expected to break the babu culture in Delhi.
‘Kejriwal zindabad, AAP party zindabad (Hail Kajriwal, hail AAP)’ was heard from every nook and corner. Various people from Delhi, its adjoining areas, remote villages and other states came to see Kejriwal’s meteoric rise.
‘I am waiting here since 6 am and want to congratulate Kejriwal ji for his concern for the poor and downtrodden people of our society,’ Avtar Singh, who came from Chandigarh, said. Unfortunately, his wish to meet Kejriwal was not fulfilled.
Enthusiast, with his (Kejriwal’s) zeal to serve the people and to stand beside them in crises, many young students were also seen raising slogans in favour of AAP for raising the corruption issues.
In the morning AAP’s Political Affairs Committee had a meeting and around 11.20 am AAP’s Manish Sisodia, along with Kejriwal and other leaders came out to announce that they are going to form the government.
Sisodia rubbished rumours of anyone else leading the party in Delhi, stating, ‘We have always declared that AAP will function under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership. There have been rumours about who will be the CM, but there is no doubt, Arvind Kejriwal will be the chief minister of Delhi.’ Later, all of them met the governor and placed their proposal to form the government.
It was like a festive mood everywhere but some of them even heard saying ‘Congress ka haat aur AAP ki sarkar (Congress’s hand in to AAP’s government).’
