Pawar refutes report of meeting with Modi

The speculation over Pawar’s meeting with Modi on post poll alliance has came after his colleague Praful Patel in his recent comment had asked the political parties and the media to let the 2002 riots issue rest.

Soon after reports in some newspaper and television channels started flashing the news under the banner of ‘NCP-Congress split?’, Pawar himself came out with a statement and slammed the media through a social networking site mentioning that, ‘News of my meeting with Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 17 January appeared in a newspaper is completely mischievous, baseless and false.’

He further tweeted, ‘During state visits or in chief ministers’ conferences in Delhi, I meet CMs and barring these occasions, I have never met Modi in last one year.’

NCP spokespersons Nawab Malik said, ‘Media reports claiming Pawar met Modi are false. This will not happen now and won’t even happen after the elections are over.’

Reacting over the news report, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, ‘UPA’s allies are very much aware that the Congress party can’t deliver and therefore they are looking for new partners.’
