Patient claims rape by doctor in east Delhi

A 19-year-old girl has alleged that she was raped by a 44-year-old doctor, when she visited his clinic on Monday evening in east Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area. The doctor, identified as Sheesh Pal, has been detained by the police. According to police, the victim has alleged that she was undergoing treatment since past three days for low hemoglobin levels and a constant stomach ache. She is a resident of Vishwas Nagar. On the day of the incident, the victim and her elder sister visited the clinic-- S.R. Baroque Memorial Clinic in Krishna Nagar.
She further told police that on pretext of treatment, the doctor took her inside the check-up room. Meanwhile, he asked her sister to purchase some medicines from the nearby chemist. In the meantime, the victim alleged that the doctor raped her. When her sister returned, she narrated her ordeal and subsequently called the police control room. A police team arrived at the clinic and detained the doctor. She was later taken for medical examination, which confirmed rape. A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the local police station.
