Patanjali to launch eco-friendly mosquito repellents

Patanjali, which is Baba Ramdev’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand, is coming out with a herbal mosquito repellent next summer.

In an exclusive conversation with Millennium Post, the yoga guru said that the repellent, which would be made of herbal components, would keep the winged intruder at bay.

“Preparations for launching mosquito repellents is in the final stage. We are ready to roll out  herbal and ayurvedic mosquito repellents in either April or May. Our target is to reduce the cases of dengue next summer,” Ramdev said.

“As in other household products of Patanjali, the mosquito repellent will also be prepared by using herbal and ayurvedic oil. It will be so effective that mosquitoes stay far away and even if they somehow manage to sneak in, the repellent will render them harmless. It will be ahinsak mosquito repellent,” Baba Ramdev added in a lighter vein.

On future expansion plans of Patanjali, the yoga guru said: “We are mainly focusing on three segments – natural medicine, natural food and natural cosmetics. Patanjali is now focusing on providing better and cost-effective alternatives to consumers.”

Ramdev added, “There are about 50 products of Patanjali that have become a household name across the country. Products such as Dant Kanti, Kesh Kanti, ghee, chyavanprash, herbal hand wash and cosmetic products have successfully found a place in the houses of people across the country. Our target is to make other products household names too.”

Commenting on the future prospects of Patanjali, Ramdev said: “Turnover is not a core issue for the group. We are aiming to provide quality and cost-effective products to every citizen of the country. If we are able to satisfy consumers, the turnover will automatically go up. Last year, our turnover had reached Rs 2,000 crore, which will touch Rs 5,000 crore by the end of current fiscal.”

“Our goal is to make Patanjali, a brand of India, as the number one brand in all the three categories – natural medicine, natural food and natural cosmetics. The day is not far when Patanjali will be at the top among several other FMCG groups, including Hindustan Unilever Limited,” Ramdev said, adding that: “We are not a threat for anyone. We constantly strive to provide quality products to end users.”
