Parvesh Sahib Singh, son of late Sahib Singh Verma, a famous Jat leader and former chief minister of Delhi, addressed the small gathering of villagers. He promises to build a sports stadium and a world-class university if he is elected to Parliament.
Aware of the fact that rural voters play an influential role in the polls, he said, ‘I won the Mehrauli assembly election last year mainly through the support of rural voters. Now I’m here to seek your blessings for the Lok Sabha polls. You have supported my father in the past, now give me a chance’, Parvesh said to the villagers.
He added that these elections will not be like any other. He requested the villagers to work hard and help the ‘nation realise its dream of seeing Modi become the prime minister.’
Parvesh faces a formidable challenge from sitting Congress MP Mahabal Mishra, a strong Purvanchali leader and AAP’s Jarnail Singh, making it a close triangular contest for the West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
While Parvesh will be hoping to ride in on the popularity of his father Sahib Singh Verma, Jarnail Singh is confident after AAP’s sensational debut in the Assembly elections last year. Across the 10 assembly constituencies in the West Delhi, BJP garnered over 36 per cent votes followed by AAP with 31 per cent votes and Congress with just 23 per cent vote share.
