Objecting to the large security cover provided to him, Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said only one security vehicle was enough for him as more number of cars cause inconvenience to commuters.
Parrikar, who attended a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) programme at BNSD Shiksha Niketan here, told his security personnel to leave only one vehicle for him and take away the rest.
"I do not need so much of security, one security vehicle is enough for me. Anything more than that causes inconvenience to people," Parrikar later told reporters at a press conference.
At the programme, Parrikar also objected to a larger chair placed for him and smaller ones for others and insisted on sitting in smaller chair.
Meanwhile, claiming that there has been a decline in the number of infiltration bids along the Indo-Pak border, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said the country is giving a befitting reply to militants and this year around 30 insurgents have been killed in encounters.
“India has started giving a befitting reply to the Pakistani militants. One Indian soldier and a few police personnel have been killed during infiltration bids by militants but in response our army killed 28 to 30 of them in encounters,” he said.
