Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday announced in the Legislative Assembly that he would trim his security cover by doing away with the escort policemen as other departments of police are facing shortage of personnel.
‘I have decided to revert them (escort policemen) to the main pool,’ Parrikar said on floor of the House.
He also said around 30 police personnel would be transferred from VIP security duty to the main pool and there services will be utilised in departments like Traffic Police, which is currently facing the shortage.
Parrikar was responding to a question on police shortage, tabled by Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte.
In a written reply, the CM admitted the Traffic Police department is facing shortage by 46 per cent.
