An association representing parents of children studying in Delhi’s government schools on Saturday threatened to stage a protest outside the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over a “disproportionately large” number of Class IX students failing the annual exams.
The All India Parents’ Association (AIPA) has written a letter to Kejriwal apprising him that a large number of Class IX students have failed to clear annual examination in 2014-15, the outfit’s president Ashok Agarwal.
“Incidents of suicide by failed students have also been reported by newspapers. The Delhi government should consider either promoting these students to Class X or at least giving them a second chance to clear the exams and should hold remedial classes for them in either case,” he said. The AIPA in its meeting decided to stage a protest at official residence of the CM on May 24, if no favourable response is received on the demands, Agarwal added.
