On the directions of information & broadcasting minister Manish Tewari a committee has been set up to look into the allegations made by the news presenters, represented by AIR Broadcasting Professionals Association (AIRBPA) at FM Gold AIR.
The committee has been constituted in the light of a report appearing in certain sections of the Press alleging sexual harassment at FM Gold AIR. The committee will be headed by an officer of the level of Joint Secretary along with two other senior lady officers.
The committee shall look into the specific allegation made by the radio presenters of FM Gold, AIR, represented by AIRBPA. It will look into the issues relating to safety at workplace of women employees working in FM Gold, AIR and also shall submit its report within three days of its constitution.
Radio presenters had alleged sexual harassment at workplace. The All India Radio Broadcasting Professionals Association (AIRBPA) on Monday filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission for Women stating they were facing sexual harassment at AIR FM Gold radio station. The AIRBPA plans to file a similar complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW).
The complaint alleged bias and unprofessional behaviour by the programme executives at the radio station and specifically named FM Gold director-general Leela Dhar Mandloi for ‘attacking the self respect’ of the women presenters.
The AIRBPA has also alleged that the staff on duty was sometimes intoxicated and misbehaved with the women employees, ‘but officials of AIR are not bothered about it.’
